In today's digital era, data has emerged as one of the most valuable assets driving innovation, decision-making, and technological advancement across industries. Data Science, an interdisciplinary branch of Computer Science and Engineering, combines statistical analysis, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and big data technologies to extract meaningful insights from complex and large-scale datasets. As organizations increasingly rely on data-driven strategies, the demand for skilled data professionals continues to grow at an unprecedented pace. Recognizing this transformative shift, the Department of Computer Science & Engineering (Data Science) was established in the academic year 2023 with an intake capacity of 60 students. The department is committed to nurturing future-ready professionals equipped with the knowledge, skills, and ethical foundations required to address real-world challenges through data-centric solutions. Our curriculum is carefully designed to provide a strong foundation in core computing principles while integrating advanced concepts such as Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Data Analytics, Business Intelligence, Data Visualization, Predictive Modeling, Cloud Computing, and Big Data Technologies. Students gain extensive hands-on experience through industry-oriented laboratories, project-based learning, case studies, hackathons, research initiatives, and collaborative innovation activities. The department is supported by a team of highly qualified faculty members with rich academic, research, and industry experience. Their expertise enables students to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical implementation. Through continuous mentoring and research engagement, students are encouraged to explore emerging technologies, publish scholarly work, and develop innovative solutions that address contemporary societal and industrial needs. At the Department of CSE (Data Science), experiential learning is a key focus area. Students actively participate in mini-projects, internships, industrial visits, technical workshops, expert lectures, coding competitions, and leadership development programs. Our state-of-the-art computing laboratories, equipped with modern hardware, advanced software platforms, and open-source tools, provide an ideal environment for experimentation, innovation, and skill enhancement. The department maintains strong industry-academia collaboration with leading multinational organizations and technology-driven enterprises. Overview

Data Science is an offshoot of the Computer Science and Engineering domain and its relevance and importance in solving today’s technologically complex problems has been exponentially growing. Data Science deals with the present high volume of data which are unstructured in many cases and generated across domains. There is a strong need to train students in developing machine learning based system incorporating data analytics and intelligent inferences from complex data. To cater to this demand, the CSE (Data Science) department was established in the academic year 2023. Presently, the department offers B.TECH CSE Data Science with 60 intakes. The department has highly qualified faculty and excellent infrastructure. Many of the faculties have a very rich industry and R&D experience. Students have an opportunity to involve in research during their studies and this will pave the way for research-based career avenues for them. The high competence teaching faculty and the excellent infrastructure creates a stimulating ambience for students to graduate to high quality data engineers and scientists. The goals of the department are to develop in depth understanding of the key technologies in data science and business analytics: data mining, machine learning, visualization techniques, predictive modeling and statistics. The department is providing students with a solid understanding of the foundational concepts and principles of data science, including statistics, probability, data manipulation, and data visualization, Programming Skills, Machine Learning based practical applications. Here, students are given a solid grounding in computer science and problem-solving methods, and are made adaptable to changes with a strong emphasis on context and project-based learning through mini-projects, industry visits, guest lectures, student activities & leadership events. Clean labs with the most recent equipment and software, as well as all open-source technologies help the students to explore their thoughts and implement those thinking help them to grow. Narula Institute of Technology has had the honour of having a host of Multinational Companies like, Infosys, ITC-Infotech, TCS, Capgemini, Cognizant, Deloitte, Wipro, IBM, BYJU’S, Accenture just to name a few. Our close industry connections with these organizations ensure better job opportunities for our students through the campus placement drives with amazing packages creating a niche in the professional world.
